$15k to improve my apartment

Won $15k on a lucky bet and looking to upgrade my rental 1bd in NYC. Not trying to sink money into someone else’s property but want to make this place more livable. What upgrades would you do that I can take with me when I move?

My thoughts:

Furniture/Storage ($7k):
* High-end modular sofa that can work in different layouts for future apartments. Looking at Article or Floyd but open to suggestions

* One of those nice room divider/storage shelf combos to break up the space and actually hide my WFH setup

Tech/Entertainment ($3k):
* Proper projector setup with retractable screen instead of staring at my laptop

* Finally investing in a real audio system that my neighbors won’t hate me for

Portable upgrades ($3k):
* Actually decent lighting – mix of floor lamps and plug-in wall sconces

* Free-standing closet system I can disassemble and take with me

* One of those fancy Toto washlets everyone raves about

The rest ($2k):
* New bedding setup (mattress topper, nice sheets, etc.)

* Plants and planters to make it feel less sterile

* Better window coverings I can take down when I leave

Am I missing anything obvious? What made the biggest difference in your rental? Really trying to focus on stuff I won’t have to leave behind for the next tenant.

Also – anyone have experience with those free-standing closet systems? Worth it or do they just look cheap?
