The Death of Old New York

I’m a huge fan of all things old and stuffy. Places like the Players Club, or the Lambs, or the old bones of Rockefeller center, Keen’s Steakhouse, P.J. Clarke’s, Jimmy Neary’s, the Old City Hall Subway turnaround, the Algonquin, the Waldorf-Astoria, the (now closed) Blue Smoke, and Bemelmans bar. While I cannot afford most of them, I have a deep love for this old world of New York.

But I’ve found recently that I find myself going over to the same old places again and again – because I don’t know where to find more of them. And the ones I knew, are beginning to close. Atlas Obscura has been helpful, to a degree – but I’m looking for that old, somewhat decaying, decrepit, but still beautiful old New York vibe.

Any recommendations? Restaurants, jazz clubs, bars, old theaters, even places I can just get a guided tour of.
