Seriously though, I’ve been apartment hunting for months and it’s absolutely brutal out there. Every decent place wants 40x the rent in income, first/last/security, broker fees sometimes being illegally requested and they still want you to basically write them a love letter about why you deserve to live there.

Meanwhile I see these luxury buildings going up everywhere and they’re clearly finding tenants somehow. Are wealthy people just paying cash upfront for the whole year or what.

Do they have some secret broker network that us regular people don’t know about. I make decent money but I’m starting to think I need to be making tech bro money just to get a studio in Queens. Anyone know someone who works in real estate or property management who can shed some light on this. Is it really just about having stupid amounts of money or is there some system I’m missing
