White Collar Work Culture Getting Even Worse

I know people across the country have been reporting this, but does anyone find that it truly is the worst in NYC?

I know it’s variable based on field. For reference, I work in commercial real estate, and have never worked close to the crazy IB/PE/Hedge Fund hours. But I do find that boundaries are often stepped over, and you’re expected to prioritize work over family/friends/health, whether it’s directly said or not.

I’ve spent my career entirely in NYC, and grew up in the suburbs of it. Therefore, I don’t know what it’s like elsewhere. Looking for perspective from those who have worked in other regions, or even the local suburbs in NJ/Westchester/Nassau.
