I’ve been eyeing a rental in Bensonhurst. I sent multiple inquiries via StreetEasy over the last 4 days and was completely ghosted.

Feeling suspicious, I sent a new inquiry today using a different name (David Hadfaer). Within a few hours, the broker (Mike T.) from NYC REALTY GROUP 693 responded asking when I’d like to see the place.

I have screenshots showing the ignored messages from earlier this week and the immediate response to the new name. This feels like a clear-cut case of housing discrimination based on my name/background.

• Has anyone else dealt with this broker or building?

• What is the most effective way to report this in NYC?

• Do I have enough “proof” here to make a formal complaint stick?
