An off-leash pitbull almost bit me in Central Park

It happened at around 11:30 am today. The owners were a couple and they had two dogs off-leash. One was a pitbull. Both dogs were playing with a stick when suddenly the pitbull changed its path and charged at me with aggressive barks. I’ll be honest, I froze and thought that was the end for me. Fortunately it lasted like a three seconds and went back to its owner after she called. She apologized and I just told them: “Leash your fucking dogs.” Maybe it was a bit rude of me but my adrenaline was rushing and my hands were still shaking after a few minutes.

I googled afterwards and read that I could report off-leash dogs to 311(?) but not sure how the process would work since I didn’t get their names or anything.

Anyone with a similar experience, please let me know how it went because I will definitely be reporting off-Leash dogs in Central Park during on-leash hours in the future.

Also, am I accurate in assuming that if it went on a bit longer, I definitely would’ve been bit? Not a dog owner and never have been charged at by a dog, so I may be wrong in my assumption.
