I’ve been living in NYC for a long time and I’ve seen the same pair of twin women several times over the years, and I’m really curious if they’re some kind of local “urban legend” or if anyone knows who they are.

Here’s what I remember:

– I first saw them around 2016–2017, and then again a few years later, around 2020.
– I’ve seen them 3–4 times total, in different years.
– They always walk together very late at night (around midnight or later), when the streets are almost empty.
– They look like identical twins, probably in their 40s–50s or maybe older.
– They are always dressed completely in black.
– The vibe is a bit mysterious — almost like they’re characters from a movie.
– They might be homeless, but I’m not sure.

Location:
All of the sightings were around the Upper West Side / Lincoln Square area — roughly between Columbus Circle, Lincoln Center, Broadway, Columbus Avenue, and around 66th–72nd Street. I don’t remember the exact corner, but definitely somewhere in that zone.

Has anyone else seen them or knows who they might be? Are they a known NYC “fixture” or some kind of local story?

(Not trying to dox anyone — just genuinely curious if other New Yorkers have noticed them too)
