I noticed months ago that a bunch of apartments in my building were being pre furnished with the same art deco look, fitted with TVs, beds, sofas, everything. I thought it was meant for staging because I would see the furniture stored in the basement of the building through the windows from the sidewalk.
I realized that the unit next door was being furnished as well. I didn’t think much about it until people who were coming in and out were always new and then found their bill on the floor addressed to “Socially Exposed, INC.”
Doing some research, I saw this company runs SettleLiving: “https://www.linkedin.com/company/settleliving/“
And found reddit threads about Eugene Lavatman: https://www.reddit.com/r/NYCapartments/comments/uu2rz3/advice_opinions_on_settleliving/
And way more
My question is, isn’t this type of business illegal? I read you need a license for short term stays. He’s taking up half the apartments in the building when there are a ton of people who can’t find a place in the area and there’s a revolving door of random residents.
