Shop NYC Top

For context, I (23 F) have lived in NYC my entire life, growing up in Ridgewood. I’ve traveled and spent time in most parts of Brooklyn, but never to Brownsville, since I was always warned about how dangerous it gets over there.

That being said, my job is sending me to one of our locations over there for just the one day, 9AM- 4PM, but my family is nervous about me going.

So I guess I just want to know how the neighborhood is now in 2024, any specific streets/areas to avoid, is my car safe to be parked on the street lol, etc.

I think I’ll be fine for the one day, but since i’m completely unfamiliar w the area, any helpful information/ tips would be appreciated!

Thanks for all the responses. Just to clarify- this question wasn’t posed to decide whether or not I’d go- I’m going regardless and am not uncomfortable with doing so. It’s one day. I will be fine. It was more so geared towards places to avoid when venturing out for lunch/parking as we know in NYC some streets have more dangerous activity going on versus others. I like to be aware when going into unfamiliar places/ situations.

This also was not a target towards those living in the area – again I asked this question to gain more clarity since I’ve never stepped foot there myself. I’m well aware of the hard working natives NY’er such as my family and myself and in no way am I generalizing those who live there. I was just asking about the area.
