I was reading Schlossburg’s essay, and I came across this line: “I did not—could not—believe that they were talking about me. I had swum a mile in the pool the day before, nine months pregnant. So clearly she wouldn’t go swimming in a heavily polluted river. Are parts of it pristine or something? I’m just really confused, and I don’t want to sift through reports.
