Genuine question: when did people decide that playing videos, music, or even phone calls on speaker on the train is normal?

I feel like there used to be an unspoken rule: if you’re in a crowded public space, you use headphones.

Now it’s just full-volume TikTok, YouTube, music, and speakerphone conversations like the entire train car is part of the experience.

Did etiquette disappear or did people just stop caring?

Literally sitting on the train right now and one passenger is blasting music on speaker while another is having a full-on conversation on speakerphone.
