I’ve been out of town for a week, just got back last night and came home to a piece of paper taped up over the buzzer that said “please remove your bikes from the bike storage area before tomorrow night or they’ll be thrown away”. that’s it, no email communication (typical for this building) no text from the super, nothing. For reference, we get bi-weekly pest exterminator emails so that system is in place and the super is good about texting tenants.
I was gone by the time the sign was posted and didn’t return until after when the bikes were removed from the bike storage room. To date, there have been a lot of abandoned bikes in the storage room, but you could tell there were 4-5 bikes that were actively used, mine being on of them.
Emailed management and told them the whole story, and that I’m going to be deducting the cost of my bike from next months rent.
Is this legal, appropriate, etc and what else can I do here to make sure I’m able to replace my bike at no cost to me?
**UPDATE: Got my bike back. The super stored some of the bikes in another room instead of throwing them away. What a confusing mess. thanks for the help, everyone.
