Last summer, the front plate was stolen off our car. Initially had no idea where/when it happened. When we realized, called our local cops (not NY) as we were back home. It was annoying but filled police report, had to get new plates etc but figured that was the end of it.
Fast forward a year and we’ve now found out we have hundreds of dollars in tolls (ezpass) and various parking and other violations in NYC (over a grand). We’ve gotten various certified letters, documentation etc. from our home state and while we’ve gotten some dismissed – they keep arriving. Feels like NYC parking is victimizing us at this point. The time to continue to fight these is really weighing on us.
Our registration with our state shows we’ve received new plates, and have gone above and beyond to prove these violations are not us. The plates, when registered to us, belonged to a black SUV, from all the attached images on the tickets, the plate is being used by several sedans.
Anyone ever have any experience with this? While we’ve had several dismissed, more violations keep arriving. Anything we should do to finally get NY to comprehend this plate is no longer attached to us? A crime was committed against us and New York parking and traffic enforcement is continuing to make it worse!
