I’m in a really tough situation and need some advice. I live in an apartment building, and recently, I’ve been hearing disturbing sounds coming from my neighbor’s unit. It sounds like my neighbor is beating her 3-year-old daughter. The child often cries loudly, and I’ve overheard things that make me really concerned for her safety and well-being.

I don’t know my neighbor very well, and I’m not sure what the best course of action is. I don’t want to make things worse for the little girl, but I also can’t just ignore it. Has anyone been in a similar situation? What steps did you take, or what would you recommend I do?

I’m considering calling Child Protective Services (CPS), but I’m worried about the potential repercussions. Is there a specific way to report this to ensure the child’s safety without causing further harm?
