I always see people on the train selling candy. They have the same types of candy (usually popular American chocolate brands like M&M’s, KitKats, Hershey’s, etc). And they are also always Hispanic and/or Spanish speakers. (I mean no disrespect.) Sometimes they are accompanied by children, even babies strapped to their backs.

I’m wondering: what’s their story? Why are they always the same demographic? Is this a scam, kind of like the fake monks with the bracelets?

Again, I mean no disrespect. Just genuinely curious.
