I live in Brooklyn Heights, and this has happened twice in the past month while I’ve been out and about running errands nearby. Both times, it’s been a group of teenage girls wearing somewhat conservative-looking clothing (skirts past the knees + tights even in warm weather) who ask me, and when I say I’m not they just tell me to have a nice day.

There’s a synagogue not too far from where I live, so the first time it happened I assumed it maybe had something to do with Passover, but I don’t think it’s a special holiday today? And they’re not wearing t-shirts or holding any clipboards that would obviously identify any group they might be with.

They’re always very polite to me, I’m just confused hahaha
