For people who have lived here several decades, isn’t this actually more extreme cold than we’ve ever experienced before?

I’ve been reading that this winter supposedly only feels extreme because we got used to warmer winters, but I’m a 40 year old native and I can’t remember ever having so many sub-20 days in such a short period of time.

Maybe by the sub-freezing days metric it’s not historic, but I’d be surprised if the average low temperature for January wasn’t a big outlier, right?
