Two days ago as I was emerging from the subway, a woman runs into me so hard her aluminum tray of food is knocked down. Her food scatters all over the stairs in a mess. As I look down at her apologetically, she stares at me in anger. She then accuses me of doing this deliberately, like I go around knocking people’s stuff around cuz I have nothing else better to do with my life.

She demands I pay for her food which she said costs $30. This struck me as odd since that’s too steep for take-out. She’s cursing at this point. I try to reason with her that we can go to a fast food place where I can pay half her food since she bumped into me. But she insists I pay her in cash saying it was all my fault.

From the exit I notice a cop car a way off which she also notices. I tell her we can settle this with the police. She then reluctantly turns around while cursing under her breath as she walks away.

I’ve been scammed by scammers before cuz I felt sympathy for them but I never seen this stunt, if indeed it was a scam. As such, do you think this was a scam since I’m not 100% sure? Have any of you experienced this before?
