What has happened to the quality of restaurants?

I don’t eat out often. But when I do, I go to a few select restaurants in my area that are amazing or travel to others for specific cuisines like Xiao Long Bao or authentic Ethiopian food. BUT the quality of food at almost every single restaurant has gone downhill to the point where I won’t eat chicken at restaurants anymore. Has anyone accidentally had “woody” chicken before? It’s like that. I don’t know if it’s a mental thing but often times I’ll take a bite and get some weird texture or off-putting taste and end up exchanging the dish for something else. Has anyone else noticed your favorite restaurants going downhill in quality?
