It seems that a lot of people both online and in real life likes to portray New Yorkers as being mean or not down to Earth whenever there is comparison to other cities. But after visiting here everyone seemed regular? Like even taking the train to Coney Island or visiting The Bronx where I got my BEC I didn’t see a lot of crazy ish on the train like on TikTok or Instagram and stuff. Even the homeless people seemed normal. You would think by the way people talk about the city that everyone is out looking to start problems as a favorite pastime. People also had no issues giving me directions when I asked them where to go or when I would say Hi walking by people they either responded back or just kept walking by. A lot of people act like if you were to do these things then someone would tell them to go f*ck themselves out of nowhere. The vendor guys in Time Square seemed chill. The people in Downtown Brooklyn seemed chill too, and Harlem was just regular. Something I noticed is that if they want to talk to you they have no issues being chatty but for the most part people just go on with their lives. I think it’s a more outgoing city than the other large metros.
