I got into an argument with a friend today about this. Most of my friend group are professionals in tech/finance/medical. He thinks that 3 weeks paid time off is normal whereas I was telling him that the average New Yorker are lucky to not get fired if they go on vacation, much less get paid for it.

As for me, just started at a new place so only get 10 days of paid time off, all national holidays and 5 sick days. I’m salary so don’t really see them docking me if I take like an extra sick day or 2.
